The accident scene at Ojuelegba which occurred after piles of plywood fell off a truck on the bridge to moving vehicles on the road is still buzzing with rescue activities as the LASEMA Response Unit just confirmed the rescue of three people from the last night incident.
Those three people have been confirmed to be dead by this morning after officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency rounded up rescue operation around 4am on Wednesday.
A source said two people had been recovered dead before one of those rescued alive gave up the ghost.
“Three people died in the accident. The truck did not fall as some are reporting. It was the plywood that fell from the truck on the bridge, probably due to overloading. The corpses have been deposited in a morgue, while the injured are receiving treatment in a hospital,”
The truck, which tilted sideways, emptied piles of plywood on commuters and motorists under the bridge, killing the victims.
Reports states that the accident with the truck conveying the plywood on the Ojuelegba Bridge occurred at about 8pm yesterday. At the moment there is no official statement on the number of casualties or what led to the accident, and reports is that the General Manager of LASEMA, Adeshina Tiamiyu, would soon release a statement on the incident.
